Play Chinese Checkers

How is the board set up?

Each player starts with ten marbles in one triangular camp. The destination is the opposite camp. ChessPlayX supports 2, 3, 4 or 6 players and follows the displayed seat order.

What can you do on your turn?

  • Step

Move to an adjacent empty hole in any of six directions.

  • Jump

Jump over a marble to the empty hole immediately beyond it.

  • Chain jumps

Chain multiple jumps and change direction during a turn.

  • No captures

Jumped marbles stay where they are.

  • Your goal

Move all ten marbles into your target camp.

  • Confirm

Confirm your route, or cancel to choose a different one.

Step or jump

Move to an adjacent empty hole, or jump over a neighbouring marble into the empty hole immediately beyond it. A turn can contain a sequence of jumps. Jumped marbles stay on the board.

When does the game end?

The first player to fill the opposite camp with all ten marbles wins. In multiplayer games, the remaining players continue to determine their places. A marble already in its target camp cannot leave that camp, and passing is allowed only when no legal move exists.

What should beginners watch for?

Leave landing spaces for later jumps and plan entry into the target camp. A marble already inside that camp cannot leave it again.
